This presentation will analyze the microryhytmic measurements present in "Li'l Darlin" and "Basie-Straight Ahead" to see if Matthew W. Butterfield's ideas can also apply to the big band medium. He concluded that the articulations used by bebop soloists developed as a result of the microrhythmic values used by these musicians.
