This session examines Mary Lou Williams' composition "Scorpio" in two contexts, the duet arrangment from "The Zodiac Suite" and her subsequent arrangement for jazz orchestra. While there are naturally a few paralells, the bulk of this research decodes and analyzes Ms. Williams arranging and orchestration techniques in this adaptation.
