Denin Slage-Koch is a guitarist, composer, educator and scholar currently completing doctoral coursework at the University of Northern Colorado. He holds a Master of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies from Whitworth University. Slage Koch’s previous writings include “Kurt Rosenwinkel’s Star of Jupiter: Transcriptions and Analysis,” available through Mel Bay Publishers, and “Racial and Historical Considerations of Benny Goodman’s 1956 State-Sponsored Tour of Southeast Asia,” a forthcoming article in Jazz Research Journal. As a guitarist, Slage Koch has performed or recorded with Shane Endsley, Drew Zaremba, Brad Goode, Wycliffe Gordon, Dee Daniels, Stafford Hunter and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and is a winner of the 2022 Pathways to Jazz grant. He has released one studio recording entitled “re: manhattan project” and will release his second full-length project, “Compassion,” in 2023.
