Dr. Dee Daniels is a unique talent who transcends musical borders when she brings her jazz styling, infused with gospel and blues flavoring, to the stage. She performs globally in diverse performance settings while accompanying herself on the piano, fronting combos, big bands, and symphony orchestras when she presents her Symphonic Pops programs. Her international career includes performances across Europe, the United Kingdom, Russia, Australia, South America, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Egypt, twelve African countries, and throughout North America. Her career has seen her in clubs, festivals, prestigious music halls around the world, on theater stages, on television and radio, and includes performances for royalty and international dignitaries. Dr. Dee has performed and/or recorded with the who’s who of Jazz Legends, both past, and present. She has 15 CDs as a leader to her credit, including her 2021 multi-award-winning and critically acclaimed CD, The Promise, and is a guest on several others.
Many organizations and institutions in and out of the music industry have recognized Dr. Dee with awards for her contributions to music, education, and community service. Some of these awards include the Pop Award "Album of the Year" (Germany); Western Canada Music Awards Spiritual Artist of the Year; Global Music Awards; Jazziz Editor's Choice Top 10 of the Month; the National Congress of Black Women of Canada Legacy Award; an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Fine Arts and the 2008 President’s Award, both from Capilano University; recipient of the prestigious and most coveted Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; University of Montana Distinguished Alumni Award; induction into the British Columbia Entertainment Hall of Fame and member of Vancouver’s Granville Street Walk of Fame; and more.
As a vocal clinician, Dr. Dee’s clinics, workshops, and master classes are geared specifically towards the jazz vocalist, but the information presented applies to any non-classical genre and/or vocal style. Instrumentalists also attend her workshops as many of the topics presented apply to instrumental expression. A supportive, interactive, and hands-on environment is immediately created where participants feel comfortable and safe as they are guided out of their “comfort zones” and encouraged to try new ideas. All topics are structured to lead participants on a journey of exploration that results in increased vocal and performance skills.
