Marcos Duran is currently the Assistant Director of Bands at Temple High School in Temple, TX and directs the nationally recognized Temple Highlighters and the Wildcat Jazz Combo. Marcos is an alumnus of the Temple Highlighters and received msuic education and performance degress from Tarleton State University (BM) and Baylor University (MM). He is currently in his 12th year of teaching and has experience teaching music to all age levels (elementary through college). Marcos is the proud husband of wife, Jennifer, and his two children, Preston and Morgan.
Temple High School's jazz program is one of the oldest in the state of Texas. Established in 1952 by director Durward Howard, the Temple Highlighters has earned local, state, and national recognitions during their 70 year history. Most recently, the 2020 Temple Highlighters were named NATIONAL WINNERS in the Mark of Excellence / National Jazz Honors Project adjudicated by Robert "Doc" Morgan.
