Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” has long inspired Jazz composers. McNeely's piece “Rituals”, composed for Chris Potter and the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, utilizes the form, harmony and rhythms of “The Rite”. I will use print and audio samples to demonstrate how Stravinsky’s language can work in a jazz context.
