This presentation shares my research in improvised voice leading and its application to pedagogy. Voice-leading models can facilitate comparison between different artists and eras, and act as a foundation for effective improvisation practice. I include live performance and recording samples selected from the 26 saxophonists analyzed in my PhD dissertation.
