This study presents a compilation of Dizzy Gillespie's improvisatory approaches through solo transcription and analysis. This survey assesses the artist's work through the lenses of rhythm, melody, harmony, and phrasing. This study is fixed on the time period of 1956-1959 when his output was arguably the greatest and most fruitful.
